Lawrence Hamilton, Director of Marketing, Hyundai Canada

About Lawrence Hamilton

Currently Marketing Director for Hyundai Canada, Lawrence started his career, pre-internet, working in Financial Services in London.

Automotive quickly beckoned with a product and advertising role helping to establish the fledgling Korean car brand, Daewoo, in the UK. A move to Germany followed with both sales and product marketing roles for Mazda Europe. Returning to the UK, he held marketing communications responsibility, and then area management, with Mitsubishi before joining Kia in the UK to run the marketing team. During that nine years, Kia grew from being a minnow to a top-ten retail sales player on the back of an experimental approach to digital marketing that had to navigate and encompass the rise of Google, social media and smart ‘phones – and all the ensuing chaos that resulted. Further international experience followed with an interesting two years in Saudi Arabia helping the Toyota brand defend its 40% market share.

Switching from hot to cold, Lawrence is now helping Hyundai and its dealers in Canada to position the brand as a leader in customer experience through digital initiatives.
