CAMP announces our first ever Marketing Student of the Year!
We were incredibly pleased to see such passion among our applicants. This is the first time that CAMP is giving away our Marketing Student of the Year Award and Scholarship, and we could not have done this without the work and dedication of our judging panel. Out of many applicants for the Marketing Student of the Year Scholarship, our judges had to shortlist 5 students. It was a tough call for our judges (Jeffrey Fenton, Susan Kates, Nikhil Savio, Elizabeth Williams, and Fareha Zakir – please read more about our judges here) as every applicant is unique and exceptional in their own way.
We all know that Marketing goes beyond the college degree or certificates and it has been articulated perfectly by our finalists. We would like to congratulate all the finalists (Cameron MacKay, Janice Cha, Paige O’Grady, Shaylin Radford, and William Etherington) for their exceptional entries.

As in every race, there is only one winner. With that, we are proud to announce the 2016 winner for CAMP’s Marketing Student of the Year…William Etherington!
William is a student pursuing Marketing Diploma from St. Lawrence College. He is a results-driven marketing professional with sales, marketing and start-up business experience, whose goal is to provide excellent marketing skills to exceed the needs of any corporation. Check out his essay posted on CAMP’s blog: passion for marketing.
CAMP’s Marketing Student of the Year Scholarship – 2016 Details
The Canadian Association of Marketing Professionals (CAMP) is ready to award a Marketing Student. CAMP is committed to growing passion within our chosen profession – particularly among those first embarking a career in marketing.
We’re thrilled to be recognizing excellence in marketing at the student level with our CAMP Marketing Student of the Year, an award that includes a $1,500 scholarship.
The Marketing Student of the Year Award will award one full time undergraduate enrolled in a marketing or marketing related program at the University or College level. Our application opens on December 15th, and closes on midnight on February 12th, with the scholarship to be awarded in March.
To win the Marketing Student of the Year, students must demonstrate Passion, Commitment, and Academic Excellence in the field of marketing.
The application process is outlined below, and consists of the following:
Details about yourself, your school, and program
An essay describing your passion for marketing (no more than 500 words).
How do we decide our winner?
Our judging panel will narrow down our nominees to five finalists. We’ll be publishing the essays for all of our finalists on our blog. If you are chosen as a finalist, we’ll contact you for some follow up details. Then, a winner will be selected from this group and contacted in March when the scholarship will be paid.
How important are grades in this scholarship?
Marketing is a comprehensive field that involves a lot more than just getting good grades. While your grades tell our judging panel that you’re studious and serious about marketing, they are only factored in a 1/3 of the overall decision. We’ll also be looking at your resume and your essay to help determine our scholarship winner.
Will I need to use the scholarship towards tuition?
Students have a lot of costs, not all of them tuition based. We recommend you use the scholarship towards helping you in your pursuit of a marketing career, in any capacity that may be. Since our scholarship is awarded in March, many students will have already paid their tuition bills, but may need assistance with living expenses or travel.
Do I have to be a member of CAMP to apply?
Yes. We are very committed to providing opportunities for our members, and our student scholarship is one way of helping us fulfil our mission. Student Membership is free for CAMP, and we encourage all students to take advantage of this membership opportunity.
